The WASH project, 'Solar Powered Water Purification' shifted into the final implementation phase with a flurry of activity before the holiday break. Four of thr smaller systems were installed and all of the pumping and storage systems are in place. We expect that by early February all nine sites will be operational and the residents of those communities will beneift from affordable access to safe drinking water. The attached picture shows the S1 system in Tawuya, Kambia District.

WASH Project - Kambia District

Installation work has started on our WASH project with four sites in Kambia District. The project builds off our community charging station model with the addition of solar water pumping and water purification. This model brings purified water manufacturing direct to the community providing a vital alternative to expensive packet and bottled water transported from Freetown or existing water supplies that are susceptible to contamination. With the recent, annual cholera epidemic now under control this model can hopefully become a preventative measure against future outbreaks.
